After attaining her Masters of Public Policy from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Lilian Coral developed expertise around a broad range of public policy issues impacting children and working families in Los Angeles County. Ms. Coral has strived to work in diverse sectors, recognizing the importance of all in shaping solutions to our region’s most important public policy issues; particularly those that impact our Los Angeles’ most vulnerable residents.
Prior to joining the United Ways of California and 2-1-1 California, she was the Policy Manager for the Los Angeles County Children’s Planning Council, Lilian led efforts around educational reform in the Juvenile Justice System, and Family Economic Success. At the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Lilian represented public employees in L.A. County on policy issues and negotiations. As part of the bargaining team for SEIU Local 721, Ms. Coral helped craft a dependent care benefit for over 100,000 L.A. County employees, the first of its kind in over 20 years.
As a consultant, Ms. Coral has to work with a range of organizations. Projects have ranged from labor-management collaborations that helped to identify and provide career pathway programs to meet L.A. County’s labor needs, capacity building support to private non-profit organizations, and research and policy analysis support to organizations that lack the capacity. |
