United Way of Greater Los Angeles and Mayor Villaraigosa host Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis

On April 29, 2009,  Mayor Villaraigosa and United Way of Greater Los Angeles and its partners in the Workforce Systems Collaborative hosted an event to honor Hilda Solis on her appointment to U.S. Secretary of Labor.  Secretary Solis told the gathering of government, nonprofit, business and community leaders in Los Angeles that, while there was "a flicker of hope", there was much more work to be done in the war on poverty.
