Nevada County is getting ready to kick-off a book sale Oct. 17 through Nov. 4, yet another fundraising effort for our local United Way.
It's time to clean up our book shelves, load up all those boxes of books you've been saving all year to donate, and prepare to give our local United Way and the many agencies under their great nonprofit umbrella a big helping hand.
The sale will be held in the Rood Center lobby with hardcover books available for $2, paperbacks for $1, children's books for 50 cents, along with movies/DVDs for $1-$3. All proceeds go to the United Way of Nevada County.
The following will not be accepted as donations: any book in poor condition, National Geographic/periodicals, textbooks, encyclopedias, self-recorded movies/DVDs, Harlequin novels, eight-track tapes and cassette tapes. Books can be dropped off inside the east door in the Rood Center lobby through Oct. 21.
As in past years, volunteers are needed to man the tables for half-hour shifts, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., for lobby sales weekdays beginning Monday, Oct. 17 through Friday, Nov. 4.
