The United Way Western Regional Conference is designed to provide valuable learning and networking opportunities for United Way leaders. Participants can expect engaging sessions covering a spectrum of topics including organizational development, fundraising, equity, community impact, resource development, marketing, 211 and more. We extend a warm welcome to all United Way board members, executives, staff members, volunteers, and partners from across the country.
Registration
Early bird registration for the 2024 United Way Western Regional Conference will expire on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 5:00 pm PST. Rates will automatically increase to $675 after the early bird deadline.
Scholarship Opportunities
United Ways of California is glad to announce that we have received a grant from United Way Worldwide to provide scholarships for local United Ways to attend the 2024 United Way Western Regional Conference. This grant is being made available given the expiration of the United Way flex credit program on December 31, 2023. We are most grateful to United Way Worldwide for making these funds available. After consulting with our conference co-chairs and planning committee, we are pleased to announce the following scholarship outlined below. You may apply your discount code a the end of the checkout process.

Before applying discount codes to your registration, please note the following:
- Discounts for local United Ways are limited to four per local United Way, and scholarship registrations may not be canceled or refunded consistent with our cancellation policy. If you receive a scholarship and are unable to attend, you may send another staff or board member from your organization in your stead, and submit that request to events@unitedwaysca.org by Friday, July 26, 2024 at 5:00 PM PST.
- If you are unaware of your local United Way’s 2022 Current Year Support (total revenue), you may consult your local leadership on what they reported to United Way Worldwide in the annual DB2 survey, visit PerformanceLink on United Way Online, or write to events@unitedwaysca.org. United Ways of California will randomly verify Current Year Support figures as discount coupons are applied. Any misuse of registration discounts may result in the cancellation of your registration.
- No discounts are eligible for hotel costs, transportation or per diem expenses. The scholarship program is exclusive to registration only.
- Scholarship opportunities for local United Ways are available on a first come, first serve basis until scholarship funds are depleted. United Ways of California will monitor the utilization of the scholarship program and reserves the right to make changes in the best interest of the United Way network.
- By applying a discount code, local United Ways technically receive two discounts to participate in the 2024 United Way Western Regional Conference. The early bird registration discount of $75 is effective through July 15, 2024, and the scholarship discount is effective until funds are depleted.
Hotel Booking
Click here to book your hotel room(s) at the M Resort Spa Casino at the outstanding rate of $149 per night before taxes and resort fees. The hotel booking link will automatically expire on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 5:00 pm PST. Normal seasonal rates will apply after the deadline. Please make sure to register for the conference in addition to booking your hotel room(s), and note that hotel room availability is on a first come, first serve basis.
We are glad to share that complimentary shuttle service is available to and from Harry Reid International Airport, approximately 20 minutes away. Click here to book a shuttle reservation but note reservations are subject to availability and must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Should any issues arise with your shuttle reservation, please call the M Resort bell desk at (702) 797-1000. Lyft and Uber services are also available.

Learning Session Application Form
A learning session is a breakout session that will last 75 minutes in one of six breakout rooms we have reserved for the conference. There will be 30 learning sessions offered, and all sessions must focus on our common United Way work around community impact, resource development, equity, professional development, disaster preparedness, 211 adoption and more. In 2022, we received over 80 applications so this will be a highly competitive process, and final selections will be made by our planning committee.
Click here to submit an application for a learning session. The deadline to submit a learning session application is Friday, May 10, 2024 at 5:00 PM PST. No changes may be made after your application is submitted. Unfortunately, United Ways of California will not be able to offer any honorariums or speaker registration discounts for the 2024 United Way Western Regional, and no priorities will be given for hotel bookings. Hotel availability is on a first come, first serve basis for all registrants.
Our national planning committee will announce the final selection of learning sessions and their respective date and time slots by Friday, May 24, 2024. We kindly ask that before submitting an application that you verify final session language with any co-presenters (including spelling and grammar), confirm co-presenters’ availability to fully participate, and collect all speaker information including profile photos.

The United Way Western Regional is being organized by United Ways of California and United Ways of the Pacific Northwest, the two United Way state associations in the West Coast. We have formed a national planning committee with United Way leaders and partners to help shape the vision of the conference. If you are interested in joining our planning committee, please contact events@unitedwaysca.org.
United Ways of California, in consultation with United Ways of the Pacific Northwest and our past conference co-chairs, conducted extensive market research in metropolitan areas throughout the West Coast to identify affordable event venues and convenient transportation options to and from a nearby airport. Some general goals are to identify room rates less than $200/night, locate an adequate event venue that is less than 20 minutes away from a major metropolitan airport, and mitigate the number of airline layovers for United Ways and partners traveling throughout the country. After receiving quotes from various venues, we concluded the M Resort Hotel Spa & Casino in Henderson, Nevada was the most ideal option to host the 2024 United Way Western Regional Conference. Our past relationship with the M Resort, including their excellent customer service, and their ability to accommodate all of our conference needs were also determining factors.
All registrations for the United Way Western Regional Conference are non-refundable. However, if you are unable to attend the conference, you may send another representative from your organization in your stead so long as the request is submitted by Friday, July 26, 2024 at 5:00 PM PST. In November 2023, United Way Worldwide announced that the United Way flex credit program will expire on December 31, 2023, and be replaced with a network investment in enriched and relevant curriculum that is accessible and affordable to all United Ways across the network. This means that current outstanding flex credit balances will no longer be eligible to be redeemed by United Way Worldwide for regional conferences or other United Way supported events.
United Ways of California deeply understands what the loss of flex credits means to our network, but thanks to a grant by United Way Worldwide, we are glad to offer a scholarship program that offers significant registration discounts to local United Ways who wish to participate in the 2024 United Way Western Regional Conference. Please find information about the scholarship program below our registration section.
The United Way Western Regional Conference takes place every two years, and we do our utmost not to schedule it the same year as a national United Way Conference.
The attire for the conference is business casual. United Way branded attire is strongly encouraged!
