Melissa Gersh is Senior Advisor, Marketing - Kinship Navigation at United Ways of California. In this role, Ms. Gersh creates and executes strategic marketing and communications efforts, assists with website development and aligns partnerships and participation. Winner of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Los Angeles PRism Award 2019 for crisis communications for her work on the Hill and Woolsey Fires Southern California Disaster Relief Fund for United Way of Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA), previously she was Interim Director of Communications/Content/Marketing for UWGLA for over a year.
Ms. Gersh has led her own marketing consultancy providing mission-based solutions to nonprofits and corporations including Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Ford Fusion, Los Angeles County Public Library, and Nissan Motors Acceptance Corporation. She also pioneered original film and retail marketing programs while at The Walt Disney Company for over 13 years, envisioning and developing an advance global marketing tour and starting her career as the studio’s youngest film character licensee while a journalism student at University of Southern California. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from University of California, Los Angeles. She is also a 2017 Silver Award Winner, American Advertising Awards.
