Laura Ege
Laura Ege is the Kinship Navigation Program Manager for United Ways of California. In this role, she works with other United Ways of California staff and external partners to build and promote a robust program that connects informal and formal kinship caregivers across California to needed resources and information that help to improve all aspect of wellbeing for kinship families. In prior work with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, Laura saw firsthand the many challenges that kinship caregivers face, especially those in historically marginalized, geographically isolated, and under-resourced communities. She is excited to be able to break down some of those barriers and challenges for kinship families with the statewide Kinship Navigator program.
Laura comes to United Ways with more than 20 years of experience in social entrepreneurship, program management, and direct service delivery in community nonprofit organizations, higher education, and public child welfare. Laura holds a Master’s in Social Welfare from the University of California-Los Angeles. In both her professional and personal life, she is passionate about facilitating healing and empowerment for individuals, families, and communities.
